If you share a scam report or story, only the details meant for the public page are shown — your private contact details stay private.
What we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and sign-in details so you can log in, save alerts, and manage your reports.
- Email alert subscriptions. If you sign up for free email alerts without an account, we store your email address and the keywords you want to watch. Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Reports and stories you submit. When you report a scam or share a story, we store what you write. Optional contact details you give us (like your email) are stored privately and are never shown on public pages.
- Basic usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and security systems log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, to keep the site running and prevent abuse.
How we use it
- To run the scam checker, community reports, Story Wall, and alert features.
- To send you the email alerts you asked for — nothing else.
- To moderate submissions and keep spam, abuse, and dangerous content off the site.
- To improve the site and understand which pages help people most.
AI analysis
When you use the scam checker, the text you enter may be processed by an automated AI service to produce a risk summary. Please do not paste passwords, private keys, seed phrases, ID numbers, or other sensitive personal information into the checker. We never ask for those, and you never need them to use this site.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We never publish the private contact details attached to a report or story.
- We never send marketing emails you didn't sign up for.
Your choices
- Stop email alerts: every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe link. No login needed.
- Change or remove a story or report: contact us and we'll help.
- Delete your account: contact us and we'll delete your account and the personal information tied to it.
How we protect your information
Public pages are served from a restricted public view that excludes private fields. Sensitive fields like reporter contact details are stored separately and are only accessible to the account owner and moderators. Access to the database is controlled by row-level security rules.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
